I’ve taken this image out of my office window. Pretty extreme perspective correction has been applied, but I think the result was worth it. There was no way I could have taken this image “in-camera”. At least not without having wings myself 🙂
It takes me two and a half hours to make such an image. Plus a tank of gasoline and the road tax through Slovenia. I don’t drive down to Croatia more often than a few times per year, but whenever I do, it is a pleasure. Of course this image could have been taken on every sea shore, but still, I really think it smells of Croatia 🙂
The Song of the Day is “Beyond The Sea” by the incredibly talented Robbie Williams. See him live at the Royal Albert Hall on YouTube.
Here’s one more image from Lake Ossiach, this one slightly more abstract. Of course this is also an image that I couldn’t easily have taken with my Nikon D300. Live view and a tiltable back LCD sometimes make all the difference.
The last few days I didn’t have much luck photographing. Most of the time I had not enough time, and when I could spare some, I was in the right place at the wrong time or vice versa.
This short afternoon trip to Ossiacher See, a lake near Villach, worked well enough though. I walked away with some material to work with.
Oh, by the way, a Merry Christmas to all of you who care about that tradition, and a few days of peace to everybody.
I’ve taken this image after the sun had vanished behind the mountains, and then, without thinking, I just went home.
Hmm … clear, cold day, these clouds, I mean, every idiot would have recognized that we were in for a spectacular sundown. And so it was. I arrived at home, was busy for a few minutes with one of the computers, and when I looked up, the sky was in flames like I’ve not yet seen this year.
You see, always running around with a camera is a good idea, but without using your brain it all comes to nothing. Oh well, sunsets are overrated anyway 😀
I’ve had a very similar picture some time ago in “2501 – Sheep Go To Heaven“, but, while this one is not strictly necessary, it feels different and I like it.
The difference between the sky in the background and the sky in the reflection was originally even more pronounced, to a degree that I had to apply partial filtering in post-processing, in order to make it not look faked 🙂
The Song of the Day is “Cloudy Skies” with Benny Carter and Coleman Hawkins. Hear it on YouTube.
This is a new building around the corner from where I work, just about to be finished. I passed in the morning when the windows were cleaned.
This slightly unusual composition is what I came up with, glad about the friendly cooperation of the cleaner up there on the crane 🙂
In German we call these fluffy clouds “Schäfchenwolken”, “sheep clouds” or actually lamb clouds. I like the expression for its implied cuddliness and it goes well with the fact that they usually mean fair weather 🙂
The weather had held, it was still sunny and the veil of those clouds, although denser, made for interesting images.
Yesterday it already felt like snow, although it fell only today. Yesterday I also began to feel sick, and later I spent a feverish night in a hotel room in Styria.
I lay down at 5 pm and when I woke up at 10 pm, I wanted to process and post this image. I couldn’t though, because I had forgotten the camera in the car 🙂
