Advertising posters frequently inspire me. I can’t really tell why, but maybe it’s the fact that hardly an ad comes without a lie 🙂

This ad is for a dating service.

The Song of the Day is “Disguises” by Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway. Hear it on YouTube.

  1. I too like photographing advertising posters and have often wondered why. I have come to the conclusion that in my case, it is often just wanting to photograph a photo that looks good in the hope of making my own photo look good by association (at least on some subconscious level). Does that make sense? However, as you have done here, I do try to add something of my own using composition. So that I don’t feel like a total cheat 🙂

    • Well, I like photographing pictures in general. Parts of paintings for instance. After all, an image is just a frame of the real world, so why not frame part of a frame? I’m not much into finding images in snapshots by extreme cropping, but that is valid as well. In the end just the result counts.
