1808 - Carry That Weight III

As I said, our new home is not yet ready, the interior doors will be delivered on Thursday, some small details are not yet finished, but at least we have moved a ton of books this weekend. Literally. Roughly about 3000 books and maybe ten meters of folders, a lot of paper, packaged in about 180 paper bags. The lift is not yet functional either, this meant to carry the bags up to the second floor.

We had got a car from a furniture store for the weekend. We got it in late afternoon and managed two transports, around 110 bags. I had hoped for a third delivery, but after #2 I was glad to call it quits.

These images were taken with the new phone and then processed using “Paper Camera”, a funny little app from the Android market.

Like here and here, the Song of the Day is “Carry That Weight” from the Beatles classic “Abbey Road”. Hear it on YouTube.

Well, this little app offers quite some variations, but the size of the output is reduced to 1024 pixels on the longer side. I've tried to play around with an original image and a variation processed like this, overlaying the original with the comic sketch, using masks to partially reveal the original, etc, but the extreme difference in resolution makes it pretty difficult. I didn't try for long, I suppose I'd be able to come up with something useful, but in the end it was not worth it. I may come back to it though 🙂

I do like the end result of this app. I think, when you have more time that is, lol, you can get the same effect in Photoshop. Edge Detect at least twice, plus perhaps Ink Outlines (I think that's the name of the filter). Moving is never fun. Packing up, transporting, and then unpacking and arranging. I've lived in my house for 50 years this fall - and it looks it. I do not edit myself very well. I wouldn't be able to move unless and until I address the issue of way too much stuff!

I thought of combining this app's output with the original image, but as the app greatly downsizes the image, this is difficult. I suppose doing it myself in Photoshop would be the better method indeed.

Oh, are you leaving Vienna for your second home town, or just relocating within the town. You have some serious amounts of paper there. 🙂

No, I'll stay in Vienna. It's just moving a ton of books for 2 kilometers in Villach 😄

Best of luck on your move -- that can be cathartic at times, both physically and emotionally. Thank you for providing us all such good material!!
