1443 - Truthfully

It’s still Sunday afternoon, although the rain has stopped hours ago, it’s still pretty uninviting outside, light is flat, and my desire to go out is non-existing. Thus, as already threatened, I’ll give you another of yesterdays rain images.

Do you believe in “photographic truth”? Don’t. It’s not worth it. Life can be so much more beautiful without it 🙂

The picture on the left is what the camera saw of the scene, the picture on the right is an attempt to approximate what my eyes saw, and the Image of the Day is what I would have liked to see. Truthfully? Hope you don’t care, I certainly don’t 😄

The Song of the Day is “Truthfully” from Lisa Loeb’s 1997 album “Firecracker”. YouTube has a live performance.

I like where the Image of the day took you. Makes me want to be there. I don't feel there has been any "photographic truth" since the inception of photography and it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I just love to view and work with images that move me. How they got to that point really is a non-issue.

I agree with Steve. The camera always "lies." So do our eyes, as no one sees exactly the same way. I too prefer your Image of the Day version. It's so soft, bright and cheerful without being glaring, inviting the viewer to step through the frame and explore - which I'd dearly love to do - right now our weather is dull, gray, wet, uninviting.

Who would ever pretend that a lump of bits, stemming from the electronic noise that was caused by a bit of light that hit a light-sensitve detector, after being filtered through almost twenty layers of glass and some color filters could reflect reality (whatever that might be). So, I just enjoy... 🙂
